Designed by Willey Reveley the Architect of All Saints Church, Southampton,
(destroyed by enemy action) for William Pigou about 1790 but soon afterwards
sold to the Curteis family who occupied the house until about 1930.
The main front faces south. Two storeys. Stuccoed. Consists of a centre
portion of 5 windows and projecting wings of lower elevation and one window
each. Stringcourse. Double eaves cornice. Slate roof in 3 hips. Windows
with Venetian shutters and glazing bars intact. The ground floor windows
have a cornice over which was possibly once part of a veranda, and the ground
floor windows of the wings have segmental recesses above them.
The north or entrance front is similar but the centre portion only has 3 windows
with a round window on each side of the centre first floor window. Porch
with pilasters, projecting cornice and balustraded parapet.
To the east is a service wing, of red brick with 6 windows which is recessed
on the south side. This is probably older than the main building.
The interior has a good staircase and contains the signed and dated plans
of the house.
