II
House. C17 origins with C18, C19 and C20 alterations and extensions. Squared,
coursed ironstone with coursed ironstone rubble on right end. Slate roof. 2
cement end stacks with chamfered bases and a stone ridge stack with chamfered
base. Possibly a 2-unit C17 house extended to 3-units and with a C19 rear wing,
now forming an L plan. 3 storeys. 3-window range. Entrance to through passage on
right has a 7-panelled door with 2 glazed panels. To right a 3-light renewed
wood casement. to left a C20 single-light wood casement and two 3-light wood
casements. First floor has three 3-light sinmilar windows. Attic has three
3-light early C19 metal casements with lead cames, wrought-iron casement
fasteners and springs. Wood lintels throughout. Rear. Entrance contained in C20
porch on left. Ground floor has a French window and a 2-light casement on right
in wood frame. Wood lintels. C19 wing on left. Interior. C18 dog leg staircase
with winder, stop-chamfered, chamfered and boxed beams, C18 fireplace, plank and
panelled doors. Inventory of 1698, in Gloucestershire Record Office, refers to
John Ward occupying this house at that time.
