1678. On December 18, 1678 "The JPs issued an order to the Constables
of Woodbridge complaining of Meeting House newly erected near the Church",
with instruction to disperse the congregation. This early part of the
present structure is incorporated in an C18 larger building, now stucco
fronted, lined as ashlar, red brick at rear. Tiles. The Hall has 2 large
sash windows, in flush frames, and is galleried, with panelled balustrade and
stair with spiral balusters leading up from the hall. The older part retains
leaded mullion transom casements. Bernard Barton was Clerk to the Meeting
for 40 years and is buried in the graveyard adjoining. NMR photo.
