Public House, formerly an hotel, in restrained late C19 Baroque.
Ashlar, rusticated to ground floor. Pitched slate roofs.
Pedimented 3-storey, 5-bay front with 2-storey wing to left and
single storey wing to right both on curving plan, around a peninusula
site. The main facade has a heavy moulded top cornice on the large
bulbous keystones of the upper floor windows. The pediment is flanked
by narrow parapets and large square stacks with cornice. Panelled
frieze over ground floor with STATION HOTEL in bronze capitals. 2nd
floor windows in coved architraves with projecting serpentine sills on
curved brackets. 1st floor windows in architraves each with pulvinated
frieze and small cornice. Ground floor windows with plain reveals and
engraved glass. All sashes. Central door with fielded panels, the
top one shaped, and fanlight. 4 similar bays to left. 4 bays to
right with deep parapet.
