3 cottages. Merry Madcap C17, 2 cottages to right are mid C18. Right bay of
Merry Madcap retains light timber framing with brick infill, and uncoursed
sarsen rubble walling to left bay: other 2 cottages in chalk ashlar, uncoursed
sarsen rubble, with chalk ashlar bands & quoins; uncoursed sarsen rubble to
rear b side walls: Thatched roof, brick stacks.2-unit plans to each cottage. 1
1/2-storey, 4-window range: timber lintels over three C20 planked doors. Timber
lintels over C20 casements, mid C18 two-light leaded casements to first floor.
Hipped gabled roof; ridge and end stacks. Interior of Merry Madcap has
chamfered and stopped beams, bressumer over open fire; closed timber-framed
truss: 2 other cottages have quarter turn stairs, rising next to fireplace.
Late C20 extension to rear of Merry Madcap.
