TM 07 NE WORTHAM THE LING (SOUTH EAST SIDE)

House. C17 and possibly earlier. Extended and refronted in late C19. Timber
frame, largely brick cased, plastered and colourwashed. Thatched roof,
possibly a small 2 bay open hall originally, extended to right or sevice end,
now 3 cells. 1 storey and attic. Entrance in probable cross passage position
to right of centre in a C19 pantiled gabled porch, 3 light casement to front
with an inverted terracotta festoon, entrance in left return, to left 2
recessed single glazing bar sashes with segmental heads and inverted festoons,
to right a C20 3-light casement, four 2-light thatched gabled dormers. Axial
ridge stack to left of centre between hall and parlour. Right end external
stack, C17 English bond tapering to cap, in front of stack C19 red brick with
white brick dressings, plastered behind stack with a lean-to oven outshut,
exposed plate and purlin. To rear diamond mullioned windows to hall and
parlour bays, 2 below eaves are original, an oven outshut behind stack.
Attached to left end a C19 clay lump addition with a lower pantiled roof,
brick front with a blind segmental headed window, weather boarded return.
