House. c.1580, part demolished and altered C20. Timber frame, plastered.
Steeply pitched plaintiled roof. Once larger, what remains was probably hall
and parlour, service bays were to left. 2 storeys and attic, continuously
jettied to front and back. 4 window front, entrance now to right of centre
with a C19 rectangular fanlight, C20 cross casements. Plinth, jetty with
unbraced butt ended joists to bressumer. Right gable end early external stack
with offsets and a tapering shaft, an inserted stack internal to left end. To
rear jetty has guilloche ornament on bressumer, original herringbone brick
nogging on first floor, these features hidden by a C20 pantiled lean-to
outshut. First floor original 5-light cyma recta mullioned window with
flanking 2-light casements, 3 C19 2-light gabled dormers. Interior: parlour
has crossed roll and ovolo moulded binding beams with high quality acanthus
carved faces, each beam differing in details and both clearly Renaissance in
style. Hall has a 3-light cyma recta mullioned window opening, stop chamfered
axial binding beam, close studding with curved braces. First floor always
ceiled with stop chamfered axial binding beams, collars clasp purlins.
