15/98 Charity Farm Cottage.

Farmhouse, now house. Early-mid C17. Coursed squared limestone rubble with
dressed quoins and timber lintels; plain-tile roof with brick ridge-stack. 3-
unit lobby-entry plan. 2 storeys. 4-window front has plank door to right of
centre flanked by 3-light casements with chamfered and stopped lintels,
probably C18. Blocked door to left. At first floor 4 smaller windows, all with
2-light casements except window to extreme right which has a 3-light ovolo-
moulded frame. Rear has similar window and a blocked doorway in line with the
stack. Interior: chamfered and stopped beams throughout, and a fireplace with a
chamfered Tudor arch formed in the bressumer; 3-plank doors with heavy frames
and timber-framed partitions. Alice Smith gave the proceeds of the farm to the
poor.
