5/20 Old Rectory

Rectory, now house. 1844. Gault brick with slate roof. Two tall
storeys and attic, 3 x 3 bays. South front has central bay broken
forward with raised brick quoins and thrice outstepping eaves.
Porch of ashlar limestone with round arch and keyblock, and cornice
to parapet for flat roof. Four panelled door with narrow
overlight. Twelve-paned sashes with yellow-brown gauged brick
arches. Five course plat band and raised brick quoins at outer
corners. Three flat roofed dormers. Rear elevation has wide
French windows to main drawing room on right. Roof has 2 parallel
hipped ranges with central valley gutter.
Interior has central stair hall with open well stair, contemporary
joinery fittings. Two service wings to right, that to front
rebuilt 1986 not of special interest. A confident design.
