Timber-framed house of different periods altered in the C18 and since. Two
storeys. The oldest portions are the west and north range forming an L which
are C15. The west front is now hung with curved tiles. Its first floor oversails
on 4 curved brackets. Gable with attic window, 2 sash windows on first floor.
One C18 and C19 bay window on ground floor. On the south wall of this wing is a
crow-stepped red brick gable with a massive brick chimney breast protruding beyond
it which has half a similar gable. The east wing is an early C17 addition but
was refaced in the C18 with red brick on the ground floor and tile hung above.
The range facing south and parallel with the original north wing was added later
in the C17. Three windows C19 bay window at the east end on the ground floor.
C17 or earlier door of 20 panels with flat C18 hood over, The east front has
2 windows and 2 gabled dormers with carved bargeboards. Horsham slab roof to
the whole. The interior has a C15 roof to the oldest portion, C16 fireplaces and
C18 panelling and staircase. The house was owned by the Stapley family from the
C16-C18.
