Farmhouse. Mid-late C16, in several phases. Timber framed, mainly plastered;
C18 red brick parapet gable ends to main range. Modern concrete pantiles. 2
storeys and attic. A long main range with later wing to north, forming L-
shape plan. South front has 3 windows, mainly C18-C19 casements. Lobby
entrance: C19 4-panel door, plain rectangular fanlight; a good doorcase with
fluted pilasters and an entablature with triglyphs. C20 single storey
addition set forward to right. Internal stack; external stack against east
gable; both shafts are rendered over. Good mid C16 parlour end. Parlour has
moulded bridging beam and plain joists; rear storey post has scrolled head;
moulded fireplace lintol. Good studding in parlour chamber, the side walls
with both reversed and tension bracing. Cambered tie beam to open truss.
Queen-post roof. Centre part of main range may be contemporary with the
parlour although the butt purlin roof is later. Service end has ovolo-
moulded bridging beam and plain joists. North wing added c.1600, probably as
a purpose-built dairy range: framing much renewed but original queen-post roof
intact. Remains of medieval moat.
