Farmhouse. C16 and late C17, with early C19 front. 2 storeys: attics to part of rear.
Timber-framed and rendered, with plaintiled 2-span roof. The front range has 2 end
chimney-stacks and one internal stack: at the south end, a fine C16 stack, placed
externally on the gable, with diaperwork in blue headers and sawtooth shafts. The internal
stack has a C19 rebuilt shaft in matching style, and the stack at the north end is mid C19.,
also in similar style, related to the addition of a backhouse. Irregularly-spaced early
C19 windows, mainly 3-light, have very small panes, with the lights divided by heavy
mullions, the central light a single vertical sash. Flat-headed hood-moulds above. On the
ground storey, one window replaced by a single-storey canted bay with lean-to roof and
large-paned sashes. Enclosed porch with shallow gabled roof and 6-panel door: raised
fielded panels. In rear range, some C18 3-light windows with square leaded panes. 3-cell
lobby entrance layout to front range, probably developed from an older end-chimney house:
little framing visible inside. The internal stack tunnelled through to give access to late
C17 rear range. One upper room at rear with exposed beams and joists. 3 bays, joists
set on edge. At the north end of the grant, behind a stretch of wall adjoining the corner
of the house, the C19 backhouse addition is still complete, with bake-oven and brewing
copper.
