A late C19 red brick building with grey brick dressings and stone coping
to the gables. Built circa 1895 as an Urban District Office and later
used as a School. Partly 1 storey and partly 2 storeys. There is an
elaborate clock tower and entrance at the north-east end with 3 window
range above the entrance, casements with pointed arches. The tower is
surmounted by a cruciform slate roof gabled on each front and with a clock
face on the front. There are 5 gables to the left of the tower and 1
gable to the right, each with 2 pointed arched windows. At the south-west
end there is a double gabled wing with modern windows inset. The roof
is slate ornamented with lighter grey slate bands and with ornamental
crest tiles.
