House, now restaurant and shop. Late C16/C17 with C19 extensions and C20 alterations.
Timber framed clad in whitewashed roughcast and timber panels with plain tiled roof,
gable end on to street. Three storeys and attics to front range, 3 framed bays deep
with ridge stack in centre bay. Giant end pilasters to first and second floors.
Leaded attic casement window containing some old glass. Projecting square bay oriel
window through first and second floors with mullioned and transomed leaded lights,
some containing old glass. Two lights flank either side of wider centre light on
both floors with 3 balusters, one each to centre and ends below each window. Coved
fascia board over ground floor with C20 arched two-light windows in ground floor
with leaded upper lights over dentilled transom . Doors to left in recess. Further
timber framed structure to rear linked by first floor passage. The "Tudor Hall" to
the rear is of 2 bays under a hipped plain tiled roof. Further extensions to rear.
Interior:- Front roof of staggered butt purlin type. Late C17/early C18 turned
baluster staircase to first floor with square newel posts. Tudor Hall - two bay
crown post roof of doubtful authenticity. Octagonal crown post, braced 4 ways,
stands on block placed on re-used cambered tie beam, further cut and re-used timber
in the wall plates.
