C16 house re-fronted early C18. 2 storeys and attic, 5 windows. Very
high pitched, tiled roof with massive, 4-shaft chimnney to left of centre.
Moulded wood eaves cornice. Walls of grey brick headers with red brick
dressings to door and windows. 4 hipped, gabled dormers have 2-light casements
with restored diamond leading. Sash windows with glazing bars in flush,
moulded frames under gauged, brick arches. Renewed door of 6 beaded panels
under dentilled cornice hood on curved brackets. South wing of 1 storey
and attic, has hipped, tiled roof with tall chimney and modern garage extension
in front. East elevation - timber - framed original Elizabethan structure
having 2 tile-hung gables each with 5-light mullions with diamond leaded
casements. South end ground floor of this elevation has closely spaced
timbers with flint filling. 2 small C20 window and door additions to ground
floor at other end. North wall - ground floor, closely spaced timbers,
flint filling, timbers numbered with Roman numerals, and a 3-light wooden
mullion window.
2 old chimney stacks, one recently rebuilt. Interior - massive ceiling
beams and old oak floors. C16 fireplaces in most rooms. Some oak panelling.
North-east ground floor room has late C16 mantelpiece with inset carved
panels of different style.
Nos 14 to 28 (even), Gazebo and Garden walls to north and east of Dragon
House form a group.
