House. Late C18. Roughcast, stone slate roof. 2 storeys, 3:1 bays.
House, to left: central part-glazed door below overlight in ashlar surround
with splayed bases. C20 casement windows in architraves, smaller on first
floor. To right, board garage doors, with C20 casement window above.
Shaped kneelers and ashlar copings overall, stacks at ends and to right of
house. Name comes from local pronunciation of Smorthwaite, which family
were benefactors to the village. Included for group value.
