II
Former Dower House. Early C19. Probably by William Miles of Ebley,
near Stroud,for William Vaughan of Courtfield (qv). C20 alterations.
Rendered stone, hipped slate roofs. T-plan with main range aligned
south-west/north-east facing north-west and rear range aligned north-west/
south-east, additional blocks in angles of T, C20 extension to west of
main range, C20 forward projecting porch in matching style. Regency
stucco villa. Two storeys, string course, moulded eaves cornice; three
windows, single vertical glazing bar sash windows, C20 3-light casement
to ground floor to left of Ionic porch in antis, cornice and blocking
course, partly-glazed outer door, 4-panelled inner door. Two storey
canted bay windows to north-east gable end and to south-east gable end
with shallow pediment to gable, angle blocks with blank semi-circular
headed arches. (Attribution to Mr Miles ex inf Mrs Vaughan).
