II

Conservatory, converted into a chapel, now utility room. c1827, altered mid-
C20. Tall, stuccoed standstone plinth, cast iron with stuccoed brick replacing
former glazing and felt roof. Five-bay range with square flat-roofed porch at
centre of south-west elevation; single-storey with moulded eaves cornice which
breaks forward at outer windows and also window at each gable end and has
ornate cast- iron detailing above; gable ends are pedimented with acroteria.
Walls have slender, fluted cast iron columns with acanthus-moulded capitals
flanking windows, between windows and at corners; columns are situated immediately
in front of stuccoed wall. Main south-west elevation: two 4-pane windows set
either side of central porch; porch is blocked with entrance surmounted by cast
iron detailing and has narrow lights in side walls. Interior not inspected.
In spite of the removal of the glazing the building retains significant elements
of its former character; the cast ironwork is of particular interest and similar
to that on Dell Pool Shrine (qv). It forms a group with Hadzor Hall (qv) and
its balustraded retaining wall, archway and gate piers (qv).
