G.V. II
Small country house. Late C18. Rendered brick. Hipped slate roof with central
large stack. 2 storeys plus basement. 3 bays with 1st and 2nd floor and eaves
bands, flanked by single bay outshuts of single storey plus basement, with let
floor bands and shaped ashlar coped parapets each with single finial at the
outer edge. The basement has a central arch giving access to the recessed +
glazed door with fanlight over. Flanking the arch are single flights of a
perron and single glazing bar sashes. The perron, with iron railings, leads to
the central pedimented doorway with double + glazed door and traceried fanlight
over. Single fluted columns support the open modillion pediment. Flanking the
doorway are large C19 single tripartite glazing bar sashes, these replace bay
windows. Above, a central segmental headed glazing bar sash flanked by single
Diocletian windows with glazing bar sashes, separating the central 3 bays and
the slightly recessed outshuts are single giant pillasters. Each outshut has
on the upper floor a single glazing bar sash, that to the east has large panes.
The basement probably once had loggias. To the west is a 2 storey 2 bay
later C19 extension, rendered with hipped roof and rendered stack to the rear.
To the rear and east are later C19 additions.
