House. Mid C18. Red brick, some ashlar. Slate roof. 2 red
brick stacks. Raised, ashlar coped gables. Ashlar cornice with
ashlar pediment over the slightly projecting, single, central
bay. Set on a plinth. L-plan. Two and a half storeys plus
basement, 5 bays, with first and second floor bands. Basement
has 4 openings. Central doorway with 6 fielded panel door, 3
steps up, overlight with C19 stained glass. Over is a
decorative wooden fan. Door flanked by single pilasters,
decorated with bead and reel, supporting single brackets and open
pediment. Either side are 2 glazing bar sashes. Above are 5
similar sashes with 5 similar, smaller sashes on the top floor.
All sashes have segmental arches and flush wedge brick lintels.
To the right, set back,is a brick and slate lean-to. To the
left, set back, is a brick wall connecting the house to the
greenhouse. To the rear are 2 storey
wings of earlier and later builds. Interior has open well
staircase with stick balusters.
