Barn, latterly coach house, now outbuilding. Late C17 with mid-to late C18
and C20 alterations. Timber framed with brick nogging on high brick plinth,
rebuilt in red brick to north-west and north-east. Plain tile roof.
Framing: square panels (3 from sole plate to wall plate) with long straight
tension braces. 2 framed bays. Toothed-brick eaves cornice to north-
west. North-west front: former coach house to left with pair of
large boarded doors and elliptical relieving arch, and pair of inserted C20
large boarded doors to right. 2 small doorways to centre, that to left
inserted with wooden lintel and boarded door to right with segmental
relieving arch. Right-hand gable end has remains of collar and tie-beam
truss with queen struts and V-struts, and left-hand gable end has tall blind
round-arched panel with brick impost band (raised top course) and boarded loft
door. Rear wall with vents in brick infill panels. Interior not fully
inspected. Timber framed cross wall with tension braces noted in left-
hand part. This building was formerly one of the outbuildings to The
Old Rectory, Claypit Street (q.v.). The Tithe Barn is not included on
this list.
