Detached farmhouse. Possiblv C17, modified. Local stone rendered and colourwashed; corrugated asbestos cement roof replacing thatch; brick
chimney stack on stone base. Two storeys; 5-bays south elevation of
which bay 1 is a long outbuilding. Casement windows of varying sizes
and patterns, all 3-light except upper bay 3, which is 2-light; that
to lower bay 1 has internal vertical iron bars; upper bay 3 has one
rectangular-leaded light and one iron-traded opening light, and the
windows to upper bay 4 and 5 similar, with the window in lower bay 5
having two leaded lights and an iron-framed opening light: stable-type
door on heavy frame to right of bay 1, and between lower bays 3/4,
otherwise blank, a C19 part-glazed door in plain opening. On east
gable a chimney stack projects about one metre, without offsets - an
adjacent lean-to may house a former oven. Interior not inspected.
Attached to west gable is a long barn and other outbuildings, 5 bays,
with triple-angle clay tiled roof having a sawtooth ridge, between
stepped coped gables; loft door in west gable, full height doors in
brick-lined opening to bay 2; and in the link range between barn and
house is a stone stairway up to a first floor dorway abutting the west
gable of the house.
