Cottages (Consecutive)

Reputedly brick drying shed, now range of cottages, of c1800. Red
brick - Measham gobs - with brick eaves and band over arches and plain
tile roof with 2 rebuilt ridge stacks, end stack and C20 left end
projecting stack. Long range of 3 storeys, ground floor being row of
12 arches, some part blocked and all with garage or other doors. Above
is 7 window front of renewed or altered casements with mostly flat lintels.
Outshut on right end. Left end cottage (No. 1) and left end rendered.
Extensions and renewed casements to rear and C20 dormer on rear of No. 6.
Reputedly built as brick drying shed (Falconer, DOE Industrial Monuments
Survey, 1981, p2) and said locally to have been the brickyard where Wilkes
produced the Measham gobs.
