22.10.52 The White House
(formerly listed as House
on east side of Overton Road)
II
Cottage. Date inscribed in render "Built 1480, restored 1915". Greystone
rubble to ground floor, then render. Original rubble gable walls also
visible, i.e. house has been considerably heightened and is now 2 storeys.
2-unit plan, with gable end stacks. Doorway slightly off centre. Casement
windows probably date from 1915 rebuild.
This appears to be the only rubble or stone built house in the parish, and
from its siting in association with narrow fields skirting the road, looks
like an early squatters cottage.
