II
Country house. 1744, with additions 1868. Reduced by a storey
and remodelled c.1950 by C. E. Ogden. Brick with limestone
ashlar and reconstituted stone dressings with lead and slate
roofs. Plinth, quoins, moulded eaves cornice, 4 lateral and
single ridge coped brick stacks. Main south-west front, 2
storeys, has a recessed 3 bay centre with a central reeded Ionic
doorcase with a fully glazed C20 door flanked by single glazing
bar sashes and above, 3 similar sashes. All these sashes have
rubbed brick splayed heads. Above again, moulded cornice and
coped balustrade with a central crest. Beyond, on either side, a
canted 2 storey bay, each with a first floor band, moulded
cornice and coped parapet, and each with 3 glazing bar sashes on
each floor. All these sashes have rubbed brick splayed heads.
North end, now the entrance front, has an off-centre C20 portico
with a pediment and a C20 panelled door. Rear elevation has C20
fenestration with glazing bar sashes. Interior, refitted mid C20
re-using original C19 dogleg staircase and panelling.
