Farmhouse. Circa 1710, rear catslide outshut C18, renovation and twin
gables to rear outshut circa 1840s. Red brick with numerous blue bricks,
red dressings, steep old red tile roofs. Slated roof to outshut and its
gables. A 2-storeys, attics and cellar house, set back from road, facing
W. 2-cells, end-chimneys, central entrance, rear staircase plan house. W
front has plinth, plat-band, projecting eaves with plastered soffit
between moulded brick corbels to moulded gable parapet at each end.
Symmetrical 3-windows wide, with flush-box sashes to 1st floor with 6/6
panes and segmental arches. Central entrance up 4 steps with 6-panels,
half-glazed early C19 door under canted Gothic timber porch with hipped
tile roof. On each side semi-octagonal brick bays with hipped tiled
roofs and sash windows. Bays of early C19 not bonded to front. 2 gabled
casement dormers on roofslope. At each gable end 2 massive external
chimneys with offsets are linked to form closets at each floor level
with windows. Rear has 2 gabled dormers. Interior plain with axial beams
to 1st floor front rooms and original bolection moulded fire surround
with cornice-shelf and block in NW room. Upper flight of staircase to
attic retains original closed string with ogee pendants to square
newels, moulded deep rail and serpentine splat balusters. Front attic
rooms have 2-panel doors with H-hinges. Rear 2 have moulded plank doors.
C19 lower flight to stair with cut string and stick balusters. Splendid
polychrome encaustic tile floor to entrance hall. 6-panel moulded C19
doors generally in ground floor. Heavy cross-beam and heavy exposed
joists to outshut at centre rear.
