Farmhouse and adjoining cow house. Probably late C18. Painted coursed
limestone rubble farmhouse with slate roof. Two-room plan aligned north-
south. Two storeys. Integral brick end stack to left. Two-window front;
mid-to-late C19 two-light wooden casements; central boarded door. Bread
oven projecting in left-hand gable end. Lower former cow shed to right
now part of house. Coursed limestone rubble with slate roof; C20 French
casements to right. Lower cow shed to far right: coursed limestone rubble
with tiled roof; one storey; three boarded doors to front, second door. from
left has opposed door at rear. INTERIOR: house with chamfered beams and
large open fireplace; cow shed with stalls, mangers, cobbled floors;
crucks reused as roof truss. The cow house is an example of the 3-door
type wherein the animals were stalled facing each other, the central door
leading to a feed passage and the outer doors for mucking out. A typical
hillside farmhouse commonly associated with Welsh types. Alcock, p.144.
