Farmhouse, now house. C14 or C15, considerably altered C19 and early
and late C20. Uncoursed limestone rubble to right and C20 red engineering
brick to left, probably replacing timber frame; slate roof. Original plan
a cruck-framed open-hall house, floored over in early C17 and subsequently
extensively modified. 2 storeys; late C20 casements throughout, 4 directly
below eaves and 3 to ground floor, right retaining C19 segmental head. Entrance
through late C20 glazed door in C19 doorcase with leaded rectangular overlight
and flat bracketed hood between second and third windows from left. External
rubblestone end stack with red brick shaft to right and red brick ridge stack
immediately to left of entrance with infilled doorway directly to left.
Another infilled doorway in corresponding position to back wall. Interior.
Left ground-floor room has chamfered cross beam with flat heavy joists.
Centre room has deep-chamfered cross beam with chamfered joists. Wide chimney
breast to right below ridge stack with infilled inglenook fireplace. One
true cruck truss, visible to ground floor in wall between left and centre
room and with tie beam exposed to first floor. Apex survives in roof space
(probably of Alcock-type A or B) but largely obscured by plaster at time of
resurvey (July 1986). Alcock (1981) p. 143.
