6/38 The Manor House

Shown on Ordnance Survey map as Manor Farm. House now incorporating former
granary. Rebuilt in 1765 according to datestone. Hammer-dressed sandstone
rubble with uncoursed rubble to rear, pantile roof. 3-cell plan with
granary to right and porch to rear. 2 storeys, 4 first-floor windows.
Herringbone tooling to right side. C20 6-fielded-panel door flanked by
casements with fixed window to right. First floor: casements. Keyed
stone lintels throughout except for wooden lintel over fixed window. Sprocketed
eaves, gable coping, shaped kneeler, left end and ridge stacks. Interior:
massive bressumer to fireplace in central room. Tie-beams visible to
ceiling of first floor, but roof truss not seen. Keystone, originally over
front door, now kept inside, reads "The Old Manner House Re-built by ZS
1765".
