House and shop. c.1700, altered early C19, extended late C19. Timber
frame, roughcast and rendered. Hipped tiled roof. 3 bays. 2 storeys and
attic. Ground floor: central entrance with steps up to a 2 fielded
panelled door, rectangular fanlight, doorcase with panelled jambs,
richly carved brackets to hood with moulded soffit. To left an early C19
shop front, steps up to central 2/3 glazed door with patterned
rectangular fanlight, flanking large 4 pane windows, simple moulded
architrave with roundels at upper angles, projecting cornice. To right a
16 pane flush moulded frame sash. Similar sashes on first floor of 16,
12 and 16 panes. Coved eaves. Three 2 light gabled dormers. Gablets on
ends, that to right buttressing a red brick stack with offsets, left end
stack removed. Narrow full height hipped stair wing to rear centre with
a cellar door and a small sash. Lean-to outshut to rear left. Late C19
lower 2 storey wing extends to rear right, large sashes, a horizontal
sliding sash, shingled roof. Interior: reset mid to late C17 panelling
in entrance hall to dogleg staircase with thin vase balusters, moulded
handrail, closed string. Architraved doors, tension braces in walling,
butt purlin roof.
