Farmhouse. C17, rear kitchen wing at NW and 2-storeys rear outshut C18,
Single-storey rear lean-to at NE C19. Timber frame with roughcast front
and stucco plinth, red brick in Flemish-bond at rear, tarred brick on E
gable end. Steep old red tile roofs, main range hipped at E. A
2-storeys, 3-units, internal-chimney, lobby entry plan house facing S,
with 2-storeys rear outshut providing passages on each floor, and
2-storeys rear kitchen wing at NW. Large internal chimney a third from W
end, and internal E gable stack. Kitchen wing has large fireplaces at N
gable end. S front assymetrical. 4 windows on each floor with entrance
between middle two. Flush-box sashes with 6/6 panes and segmental heads
to ground floor. 6-panels flush-beaded door in heavy moulded frame with
open triangular hood on shaped brackets. Interior has added passage
serving the original three front rooms, also containing the staircase at
E end presumably replacing a stair to rear of main chimney. On ground
floor main chimney only served a fireplace for the middle room. NE
corner fireplace later provided in W room. Axial chamfered and stopped
beams to E of stack but crossbeam in W room set nearer W wall as if this
bay had been shortened. 2 plank doors and an C18 panelled screen. Farm
buildings attached at N not of special interest.
