2/317 Hillmead Farm House

II


House. Late C16, part rebuilt mid C20. Timber frame. Red brick cladding
and nogging, rendered first floor. Tiled roofs. 2 bay parlour end of
original house remains. 2 storeys. Plinth. Ground floor 1 and 3 light
casements, first floor exposed framing, mid rail, posts, studs, braces,
1 and 3 light casements. Ridge stack at right end, rebuilt cap. To right
2 bay C20 rebuilding has entrance and 2 light casements. Left gable end
C18 external stack with offsets, exposed framing, tenoned purlin roof.
To rear an exposed post and two 3 light casements. Lean-to additions to
rear. Interior: ovolo-moulded and chamfered bearers, late C16 decorative
wall painting on ground floor partition wall, thistles in diamond
frames with quatrefoils. (RCHM Typescript).
