House. Late C15. Extended, floored and heated in C17. Part brick cased
in C18. Extended and altered C20. Timber frame with red brick nogging
and casing. Tiled roofs. 2 bay open hall with lower cross wing, C17
upper cross wing added. 1 storey and attic, 2 storey wings. Entrance at
right end of hall with C20 gabled porch. C20 casements, cambered head to
3 light window, exposed wall plate and rafter ends. C20 3 light dormer
with moulded gable. Original wing to right has a slightly higher ridge,
originally probably jettied. 2 light casements, exposed rail, studs, tie
beam, struts to collar clasping purlins. C17 2 bay cross wing to left,
shallower pitch to roof, 2 light casements, exposed framing. Left return
has a ground floor C20 canted bay, first floor exposed framing with a
brace, 3 casements. Original external stack to rear gable end, base with
offsets incorporated into a tall lean-to outshut. Catslide roof over
continuous lean-to outshut to rear of hall with a C17 extruded stack,
large base with a window tapers up to cap. Right return has exposed
framing, an early C19 external stack towards front with a large base and
oven stepped up to narrow flue, first floor 2 light casement with
glazing bars and a moulded frame. Entrance to rear where cross wing
joins long C20 addition under a continuous roof. Interior: crown post
roof originally. C17 wing has a clasped purlin roof with windbraces.
