Front circa 1830s Gothic Revival forming extension to gutted early C18 house. 2
storeys. Ashlar, moulded string over ground and 1st floors; buttresses with pointed
weathering, niches and panels, the 2 on main part of the house have lost their
pinnacles which the others (one to left and 4 to conservatory) retain. Hipped slate
roof. 2 left hand bays retain parapet with blind pointed arcade which formerly ran
across the rest of the house. 2 + 3 bays with glazing bar sash windows. Main part:
1st floor windows separated by pointed niches, these windows have drips, blind
flanking panels and Tudor arch heads; on ground floor: tripartite 4 centred head
windows (heads contain blind intersecting tracery, window heads foiled) with blind
flanking panels below drip. Projecting gabled bay to right with similar window and
a door cuts across right hand buttress and links with octagonal conservatory with
pinnacled buttress and modern glazing. Rear: 5 ranges of windows, 3 on 1st floor
and 1 on ground floor to right have early C18 ovolo section with cornice, 2 central
bays have altered mullion windows with decorated leaded glazing. Projecting 2 storey
tower porch left of centre added 1887, Tudor arch entrance, 1st floor jettied and ½
timbered. Interior: 2 ground floor roods have early C19 fire places and Greek key
cornices.
