House. Late C16 or early C17, extended late C17 or early C18 and in
early C19. Timber frame, extended and cased in red brick, largely
whitewashed. Tiled roofs except shallow pitched slate roof to front
range. Original 2 bays to rear with taller 2 bays added, further 3
storey 3 window range added to become new front, all with parallel
roofs. Central entrance in C19 front range with a rectangular fanlight,
all recessed, simple porch, columns with fluted capitals. 16 pane
sashes, 12 pane on second storey, slightly cambered gauged brick heads.
End stacks. Lean-to outshuts on returns. Leaded casements in left
return. Intermediate range has lower gable end to left. 2 storeys and
attic. Ground floor horizontal sliding sash and 2 light casement, first
floor horizontal sliding sash, attic 3 light leaded pane casement. A
hipped wing behind this range comes down over still lower 3rd parallel
range. Exposed jowled posts and clasped purlins. C17 external stack with
a large offset and base in a 1 storey outshut, hipped to front lean-to
to rear. Rear elevation of earliest range was probably original front. 2
storeys with C18 brick casing. Entrance and 3 ground floor casements, 2
on first floor, all C20 leaded lights. Dentilled eaves. Queen Anne
Cottage (q.v.) adjoins to rear left. Interior not inspected.
