House. 1782 on datestone, with extensions of 1925 and 1974. For Emmanuel
and Betty Strickland. Dressed sandstone, rendered to rear; herringbone-
tooled quoins; pantile roof. Central-staircase plan, one room deep, later
extended to left and to rear. 2-storey, 3-window front with 2-storey
extension to left. C20 board door reusing original hinges, with 8-pane
fixed light above. Remaining windows are 3-light, small-pane, horizontal-
sliding sashes. Stone sills to all windows and roughly tooled linpels to
all openings. Door lintel incorporates rectangular datestone inscribed:

Coped gables, shaped kneelers, and end left and right of centre stacks to
original, steeply-pitched roof. Gable end to right: window opening with
tooled lintel blocked with brick. Quoined gable end. Interior: massive
spine beam, roughly chamfered, to ground-floor room to left. Original stone
fireplace surrounds with coved cornice mantelshelves survive in all rooms
except that to ground floor left. One first floor, plank and batten doors
with original door furniture of local design have been retained.
