Farmhouse, now a private house. Early C17, altered with new N and S
crosswings c.1937 by Alban Carbe. Timber frame only exposed inside,
roughcast E wing, red brick casing and steep old red tile roof with
matching extensions. A 2-storeys and attics T-plan older centre to
house with cellar under E wing. Main range N-S has lobby-entry,
internal-chimney, 2 cells plan facing W. Stair in rear wing opposite
chimney. 3-bays front range with narrow chimney bay in middle. 2-bays
E wing with large external E gable chimney with 2 conjoined square
shafts, pierced by main entrance c.1937 with armorial plaque added
above. Twin, 2-storeys, gabled crosswings project to front (E).
Casement windows with segmental arches, renewed. Small gabled -brick
well-house attached at SE corner with deep well still in use. Interior
has exposed timber in walls, chamfered axial beams with hollow stops to
ground floor, similar with ogee stops to 1st floor. Jowled posts,
straight braces to tie-beams, clasped-purlin roof on collar-and-strut
trusses. Double-curved tension brace and square-butted scarf joint of
wallplate in rear wall, the framing of which is exposed on the
staircase. Particularly heavy and long-span purlins.
