9/36 Laburnum Cottage

House. C18 with earlier origins; part raised and extended in C19; C20
alteration. Coursed rubble stone with quoins to higher end; pantile roof
with brick stacks, one rendered. Originally 3-cell hearth-passage plan;
domestic end raised and outshut added. 2-storey, 2-window high end to
right, with single-storey, 3-window low end and lean-to outbuilding at end
left. Original hearth passage doorway now blocked by unequal 9-pane sash.
C20 6-panel door to centre of high end, flanked by 3-light large-pane
horizontal-sliding sashes with painted stone sills. Similar, smaller,
2-light windows to first floor, and to low end. Painted stone lintels to
all high end openings, timber to low end. End stacks to high end and centre
stack to low end. Interior: in room to left of door the inglenook fireplace
survives, with cambered bressumer and stone lamp ledges, on brackets on each
side of the fireplace. Chamfered beam with run-out stops.
