Sloper monument, in the churchyard,
about 21m north of west end of the
chancel, Church of St. Mary

Chest tomb; Thomas Sloper, died 1703; ashlar stone. Semi-circular
ends, with centre each side projecting slightly. Top appears to be
weathered remains of an effigy, possibly originally rather longer:
below a flat lid with moulded edge. Ends plain, with gadrooning
and moulding below at ground level: centre of sides a slightly sunk
rectangular panel, on south with a leaf surround to an oval centre,
on north panel has plain shield at top with drapery tied by ribbons
above, caught up at corners and hanging down sides. Plinth buried.
Small, neat lettering. Later inscription to daughter on north
side.
