Large detached house. Early C17; large c1840 addition and
rebuilding. Coursed rubble limestone, mostly roughcast rendered;
ashlar dressings and chimneys; stone slate roof. Two-storey with
cellar; remaining part of C17 house on north side. West front:
main symmetrical front of C19 house to right with central break
forward, fenestration 1:1:1, all mullioned and transomed with
hoodmoulds and Tudor arched heads. Heavy bolection-like parapet
cornice in sandstone; central gable with ball finial; outer
gables on centre-line of fenestration; hipped roof. Central
Tudor porch archway and matching doorway. Gable end of C17 house
recessed to left with single-window recessed cavetto mullioned 3-
light casements to ground and upper floors with hoodmoulds. South
side: 2 parts each with single-window fenestration and gable as on
west front. Mullioned cellar casement in plinth. East side:
full gable to left with chimney; large pointed arched stair window
to right with tracery without cusping. Two gables to C17 house to
right, left possibly later addition with mixed mullioned
fenestration. Right gable has doorway with keyed stone lintel and
4-panel door; continuous hoodmould rising over lintel; 3-light
recessed chamfered mullioned casement above with hoodmould.
North-facing gable in lean-to to C17 house with 3-light recessed
chamfered casement.
Interior: open well stone cantilevered staircase. Tudor arched
doorways with contemporary panelled doors.
