A Cl5 timber-framed and plastered hall house, altered and extended in the C16.
Apart from same modern additions at the rear and the restoration of the chimney
stacks there has not been a great deal of subsequent alteration. The east front
has projecting cross wings at the north and south ends and the addition of 2 C16
gables to the centre block. All 4 gables have the original C16 carved bargeboards
and moulded pendants. 4 window range, 3 and 4 light casements. There is a late
C16 door with 8 panels. On the main block, between the storeys, there is the
remains of a band of ornamental plasterwork. Roof tiled, the south wing is hipped
at the rear and there is a gabled dormer to the main block and a late C16 central
chimney stack with group diagonal shafts. The interior has some of the original
roof construction and there are save original doorways and blocked windows. There
is also some C16-C17 panelling. (RCHM 25).
