Farmhouse. Early C19 remodelling of a C17 house. Hipped thatch and slate roofs. 3
brick stacks set on the ridge to axial stacks.
Plan and interpretation: 3-room-and-through-passage plan, the whole remodelled early
C19. The lower room to extreme right and the through-passage thrown into one room,
this then divided into 2 small rooms, one a kitchen, the other a cider room. Higher
end to left with a stair-hall inserted into the inner room which may have been
extended to the right. Stone stairs on gable end to the first floor to right.
Exterior: 2 storeys, 3:1:1 window on first floor, 2-light casements with glazing
bars, except 16-pane sash windows to left bay, C20 window on ground floor, bay to
extreme right with 3-light leaded casement. 3 door openings, to left 6-panelled
door, the other 2 with plank doors, 2 gabled porches.
Interior: with early C19 joinery including staircase and window shutters. Cross-
beam to central room with an elaborate moulding which is probably C17. Kitchen at
the lower end with an oven which projects into the cider house. Cider press in the
ciderhouse.
Garden boundary railings at right-angles to the right of the frontage, spear-capped
on a high rendered plinth, 2 gateways in similar style.
