II
Farmhouse. C17 and 1795-1799 by Samuel Wyatt, architect. Walls gault brick,
whitewashed. Roof black glazed pantiles. 'L' plan farmhouse with projecting
E wing. W front 5 bays, 2 storeys. Ground floor, 4 tripartite windows recessed
under segmental arches, sashes, glazing bars. First floor sashes, glazing bars,
C20 porch. Door, half panelled, half glazed, side lights. Brick dentil cornice
hipped roof. Gault stack on S gable, off-centre stack at N. N return, 2 storeys,
6 bays , mid C19, gault brick porch, central stack. Rear wing, galleted cut
flint, red brick quoins, drip moulds to large filled in rectangular window openings
provides C17 or earlier date to beginning of house. Cellar under this wing. House
clearly rebuilt by Samuel Wyatt to depth of one room in W front, leaving a rear
wall and a W wing where Wyatt inserted the staircase.
