Circa 1730. Regional Palladian mansion: central block with lower wings, the left-
hand one of which incorporates older work. Ashlar, with rusticated quoin pilasters,
cornice and pediment on pilasters- Two storeys, attics and basement with 2 storey
wings. Five windows, 1:3:1, sashes with original glazing bars, in moulded architraves
with segmental heads, keystones and bull-nosed cills. Central doorway with rusticated
Ionic pilasters, cornice and dentil pediment, part glazed door with fanlight over.
Bullseye window in pediment. Balustraded parapet with vase finials. Cotswold stone
mansard roof with dormers behind parapet. Domed gazebo with ball finial and window
to compass points. Double saddle roof with ashlar end stacks. Stable wing to left
with mullion and transom windows and panelled parapet, modern similar wing (built
1922) to right. Garden front similar with central Venetian stair window as chief
feature. Plain walls with parapet pierced with balusters opposite dormers.
Rusticated doorcase with cornice and heavy keystones.
Good interior: wide stair hall with 3 turned balusters per tread and doorcases with
broken pediments, enriched plasterwork. Drawing room is completely panelled and
is complete with Rococo (in diluted style) ceiling; fireplace with keystone mask.
Secondary staircase with turned baluster and closed string.
