8.5.67 Lower Bruckland Farm House

Farmhouse. Circa C16/17 stone rubble house. Asbestos slate roof with gabled ends,
roof at south end at lower level. Two storeys. Long six window range. One, two
and three-light casements with glazing bars. Two plain doorways one with plank
door, the other glazed. Rebuilt brick ridge and end chimney stacks. Two chamfered
stone window frames on west side, one with dripmould. Modern gabled wing and
lean-tos on west side.
Interior: open fireplace with chamfered stone four-centred arch to side. Another
open fireplace with cambered chamfered timber bressummer and oven. Chamfered
ceiling beams.
Including adjoining outbuilding to north east, circa C18 or of earlier origin, stone
rubble with slate hipped roof, recess with external stairs to loft door. Inside
loft a small four-centred arch stone window. Room below has similar window reset
from west elevation of house. Contains remains of cider press.
