House. C18, extended in C20. Timber framed and plastered with facade of
painted brick in English and Flemish bond, roofed with handmade red plain tiles.
Double range plan facing S with central stack, C20 extension to right comprising
garage and room over, and C20 flat-roofed 2-storey extension to rear. 2 storeys.
Ground floor, 3 sashes of 12 lights with straight heads. First floor, 4 similar
sashes, and one more in right wing. 6-panel door at right end of main
elevation, in porch with arched front and open spandrels, panelled frieze, 2
scrolled brackets at front and each side, and moulded flat roof. Fully hipped
roof. Cast iron roundel in middle of upper storey. The name derives from
Walter Hare, to whom the land was granted in 1399 (G.F. Beaumont, A History of
Coggeshall in Essex, 1890, 122 and 243).
