2/22 The White House
II
House. c. 1830. Colourwashed stucco, with traces of former
ashlar scribing, over coursed slatestone rubble; hipped slate
roof with bracketed eaves and early Cl9 iron guttering with
lions' mask motifs; rendered brick end and internal stacks.
Double-depth plan. Late Georgian style. 2 storeys. Front of
1:3:2 fenestration with projecting central range. Semi-circular
arched central doorway with fanlight frames mid C19 four-panelled
door. Flat rendered arches over 12-pane sashes; three small C20
windows to right end of ground floor. Interior: early C19
dog-leg with landing staircase with fret-cut brackets, wreathed
handrail and wrought-iron balustrade similar to that in Kenwith
Castle (q.v.).
