- Victoria Farm at the east and

GV II
Barn and cartshed barn probably C18, cartshed late C18/early C19. Cob and stone
rubble, whitewashed and rendered, corrugated iron roofs (barn formerly thatched),
barn roof hipped at ends.
Plan: Large barn, rectangular on plan, backing on to Forches Hill and at right
angles to Victoria Farmhouse and slightly set back from it. The barn has been linked
to the house by a lean-to cartshed at the south end with an entrance between the
house and the barn.
Exterior: Barn formerly lofted, some crossbeams survive, cartshed single-storey. The
barn has large double doors with a chamfered timber lintel with runout stops facing
the yard to the rear of the house. Part of the cob to the left of the door has been
replaced with heavy elm planks. The rear elevation has a presumably re-sited C18
domestic door with fielded panels, opposed to the double doors. The cartshed has a
3-light casement window in the end overlooking Forches Hill.
Interior: Pegged A frame trusses to the barn. An undated photograph of the barn
survives, showing it with a thatched roof.
Group value with the farmhouse(qv)and on an important corner site in the village
centre.
