Probably an early C16 Hall house with a later C16 part on the south-west and
a small C17 kitchen wing on the south-east. It was altered externally in the
C18 and later wings added in the east and west. It was refaced in red brick
in the C18. 2 storeys and attics to the main block. The north front has small
gabled wings which break forward slightly at the east and west ends and there
are later additions on the east and west ends. The windows of the C18 front
are arranged 1:3:1, double- hung sashes with glazing bars, in plain reveals.
The south-west wing has mullioned and transomed casements with leaded lights,
in segmental arched heads. 4 window range on the west side. The east side
has 2 late C16 chimney stacks with diagonal shafts (rebuilt) and the main block
has an original chimney stack with embattled offset and 1 diagonal shaft. In
the interior the hall has C17 panelling and an open fireplace. (The original
overmantle and carved frieze have now gone). One room in the west wing has
a dado of C16 panelling. Roof tiled, with 1 modern gabled dormer on the north
front. (RCHM 2).
