House, 1812, rendered and colourwashed, slate roof. Main range of-3 bays,
2 storeys and attic 2 bays deep, with forward ground floor of 5 bays
continuing to left return. Single-storeyed addition to right of no special
interest. Service wings and ranges to rear. Principal facade to south:
5 bays of ground floor with parapet; central doorway with recessed portico
of 2 Tuscan columns in antis, double-leaved door part glazed with rectangular
light above. 4 recessed sashes with glazing bars, 4 x 4 panes, canopies;
pair of pilasters to either side of each sash; egg and dart echini to all
pilasters, columns and window mouldings. First floor of 3 bays with parapet
to hipped roof; 4 wide Tuscan pilasters, 3 recessed sashes with glazing
bars and hoods with consoles. Left return of 2 bays with 2-bay forward
range to left. 6-bay service range beyond, all of 2 storeys, rendered and
colourwashed, each part with hipped slate roof. Return of principal range
with forward ground floor as to south facade with parapet and pilasters;
first bay with wide French window, bay 2 forward with casement with
glazing bars. First floor with 4 Tuscan pilasters, 2 casement cross windows
with glazing bars, central blank opening. 2 roof dormers. Attached range
to left with mouldings of ground floor parapet continued as platband. Hipped
slate roof with modillions to eaves. Ground floor with 4 plain pilasters,
2 large casements with glazing bars and central French windows with glazing
bars. First floor with casements with glazing bars. Service range to left
set back, 6 bays with chimney bay having lateral stack between bays 4
and 5; 2 storeys; hipped slate roof with modillions. Doorway to bay 3
part glazed with glazing bars; ground floor with sashes with glazing bars,
bay 6 with casement; first floor with casements with glazing bars, bay 3
with sash with glazing bars. All openings, except first floor bay 3 with
hoods. Return to right (east) with entrance facade: attic and first floor
as to left return, but sash to first bay. Forward ground floor with sash
with glazing bars, 4 x 4 panes, to left, recessed entrance to right with
portico of 2 Tuscan columns in antis, double-leaved door with rectangular
light above with glazing bars; flanking narrow sashes with glazing bars;
irregular ranges to right.
